Repressing someone's natural homosexuality can allow all kinds of strange things - like homophobia - to manifest themselves. Since the GOP, of course, fosters an environment where it's hard as hell to come out, it puts gay Republicans in the perma-closet, which then causes things like the excessive homophobia. So thus, in a sense it's not the fault of the individual closeted gay Republicans so much as the fault of the party, and the factions of society that support them. i feel for anyone who's been forced to live a lie, even when that lie turns them into bigots.
